The SHO arrived in CA on 29-MAR-1998 with 74,301 miles. The car was in good shape when it arrived and after a
thorough cleaning to remove the Midwestern winter road grime, I was on my way ...
Upon its arrival, I had a 15,000 mile service performed at a Ford dealer (YIKES!). This service turned up a severly
rusted exhaust system (kinda given away by the decibel level while driving). To quote the mechanic, "Heat shield
for catalytic converter has broken weld; exhaust donut is leaking; exhaust system heavy rust damage". This
necessitated a cat back system replacement. Not knowing much about exhausts at the time, I took it to a local
muffler shop for a generic replacement. Other than the service, exhaust fixes and a fog light replacement the SHO was set to start its
life in CA.
The SHO became my new daily driver, replacing my 1987 Honda Accord LXi 2 door hatchback (181,000 miles).
I sold the Honda for about $1,800 to a nice man in my town who wanted to use it as a spare car that

attendant daughter could use when she was in town. I logged about 70 miles a day on the SHO, primarily
commuting from my home to work and back.
After several years of happily driving the stock SHO, I stumbled onto the BaySHO email list. I was a passive observer,
carefully taking in things that people were doing to their SHOs. It was on BaySHO that I learned about Nick Chrimes.
It was not until an inquisitive email to Nick on 23-JUL-2002 entitled, "A Few Performance Questions", that the next phase
of the SHO's life began.
